Vaccines and Preventative Medicine
Dogs should be kept up to date on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. Cats should be kept up to date on Rabies, Feline Leukemia, and Feline "distemper" vaccines. During a routine exam we will evaluate your pets eyes, ears, mouth, nose, lymph nodes, skin/hair, lungs, heart, abdomen, musculature, and bones, among other things. We will tell you how to prevent certain diseases, how to care for and manage existing diseases, and notify you of possible problems.
New Puppy/Kitten Exam
Ideally, new puppies and kittens should be seen within a week of adoption to evaluate their health. Puppies will need 4 sets of vaccines within their first 4 months of life and kittens will need 3 sets of vaccines.
At Santa Fe Veterinary Clinic, we recommend spaying or neutering your pet at 6 months of age. If you are wondering why spaying and neutering are important, please visit this site:
Dermatology and Skin Disease
There are many reasons why your pet may be itchy, red, losing hair, etc. We can help you make your pet more comfortable and help manage your pets skin disease.
Surgery and Pain Management
We are able to perform soft tissue surgery almost anywhere on your pet's body! Or if you are worried about your pet's arthritis or injury pain, we have the ability to help him or her manage that pain.
Geriatric Evaluation and Treatment
Older pets often require more loving care than our younger pets. If your pet is starting to show signs of aging such as trouble getting around, dental disease, eye disease, confusion or any other issue, we recommend scheduling an appointment. We would be happy to discuss how to ease your pet into the optimal quality of life.
Radiography and Laboratory testing
We are able to perform various bloodwork profiles on our SpotChem, ABC Plus and VetScan machines while you wait! We can also take x-rays using our in-house digital radiology machine, making your trip to visit us as hassle-free and quick as possible.
We are able to perform ultrasound procedures on our ultrasound machine. We can use it to help diagnose tumors, take aspirates of organs, or aid us in collecting urine.
If your pet has become pregnant or you think she may be pregnant, we can help diagnose her with a physical exam and radiographs or ultrasound.
Flea and Tick Treatment and Prevention
Due to the frequent temperature fluctuations in Oklahoma, we recommend keeping your pet on flea and tick prevention year round. Fleas and certain ticks can infest your house as well as you and your pets, transmitting deadly diseases during infestation. Ask our receptionists about which products would be the best fit for you and your pet
Did you know that heartworms are spread through mosquito bites? Due to Oklahoma's warm weather and high mosquito population, Oklahoma is endemic to heartworm infestations. To protect your pet and prevent a potentially fatal infection, we recommend you keep your dog on heartworm prevention year round.
Weight Loss and Nutritional Support
The pet obesity epidemic is of nationwide concern. Come talk to our doctors and staff about how to safely and effectively help your pet lose weight and add years to his/her life!

We offer climate controlled boarding for our established patients. We have indoor runs and cages that can be reserved according to pet size. Holidays and weekends fill up fast, so book early! All pets boarding with us must be current on vaccines.
